President Dos Santos Summons Legislative Elections for September 05

Luanda, 06/04 - The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, by using the competences granted to him by the Constitutional Law, summoned this Wednesday the holding of the legislative elections next September 05, nationwide.

The fact is contained in a document of the Services of Assistance to the President, distributed in Luanda.

It refers that in accordance to the recommendation of the meeting of the Council of the Republic, held last May 03, the National Assembly (parliament) should analyse and legislate on the possibility of extending the voting period in case of occurrences not foreseen by the article 121st of the Electoral Law that hinder all citizens to execute their inalienable right of voting on September 05.

In its preamble, the presidential decree reiterates the need for Angolans to vote freely, consciously and responsibly so as to choose their representatives, trusting them with the responsibility of leading the destinies of the nation, reads the document.
